Eine Pressesimme aus der "Los Angeles Times" zu den Konzerten im Greek Theatre (übrigens mit interessanten Querverweisen auf Crimso's musikalische Kollegen):
KING CRIMSON STAYS TRUE TO ITS ROOTS

The new King Crimson that guitarist Robert Fripp formed in 1981 is the only first-class progressive-rock band with roots in the genre's '70s heyday that hasn't either sold or popped up.
ELP is dead - though that's no great loss. Genesis has been decapitated and plays a lot of love songs these days. Yes has opted for rock with progressive elements just sort of haphazardly thrown in for old times' sake.
So what happens? Genesis and Yes pack the Forum whenever they play there, while King Crimson could fill only about half of the Greek Theatre on Tuesday night.
Those who came seemed determined to make up in enthusiasm what they lacked in numbers, and there were more young faces in the crowd than fans who looked like they were old enough to remember the English group's "In the Court of the Crimson King" days. The band - Fripp, singer-guitarist Adrian Belew, drummer Bill Bruford and bassist Tony Levin - have kept young, too, in a way. With a lot of vitality, the group showed off the latest examples of its intricate yet steadily rhythmic songs that appeal mainly, I would guess, to people who read Scientific American, do mathematical equations for fun, and can can stare at an Escher print for hours.

New songs like "Man With an Open Heart" and "Dig Me" were honorable additions to the Crimson canon, though the sleepy single "Sleepless" and some attempts at trance-inducing instrumentals (best left to minimalists rather than these hyper-technicians) were less involving. And even if you couldn't dig the music, the contrast between the two guitarists - Belew the showman, Fripp the quiet man - was fairly fascinating in itself. King Crimson also played Wednesday night at the Greek.
