Dad wäre schade.....
Ich gestehe, dass ich das Album immer noch nicht habe, obwohl es mir gut gefällt. "Schuld" daran ist (in meinem Fall), dass es eine ganze Weile dauerte, bis die Musik auf CD zu haben war, nachdem sie lange vorher virtuell schon im Umlauf war. Irgendwann habe ich aufgehört bei jpg u. a. nachzusehen, ob es nun endlich mal erschienen ist. Will sagen: Anderson sollte sich vielleicht mehr Gedanken um den Vertrieb machen als um (ihm zu gönnende) Ehrungen.

Vor einer Woche gab es einige Turbulenzen in den Foren - Jon Anderson hatte ohne Vorwarnung anscheinend ein neues Soloalbum veröffentlicht.
"Sunlight" stand kurfristig sogar als Download bei Amazon bereit. Einen Tag später war das Album wieder überall verschwunden - nur ganz Schnelle hatten sich das Alum gesichert. Ich gehörte leider nicht dazu.
Jon Anderson meldete sich kurz darauf mit folgender Nachricht:
'SUNLIGHT' is not a solo album...FYI....it's music I made with a close friend for the Universal music library ...production music created for movies, advertising and other avenues...not a solo album...best wishes
to everyone everywhere..love and 'light' Brother Jon
Jetzt ist das Album zurück und kann immerhin gestreamt werden:
Vielen Dank für den Link, ein gutes Album mit Potential vielen Ideen, die auf ein Yes-Album gepasst hätten.
Schade, dass man nicht downloaden kann. Das wäre es gewesen.
Jon wollte ja mit 1000 Hands den Grammy gewinnen, leider ist das schon an der PR des Albums gescheitert.
Warum Jon inzwischen eine Phobie hat ein Album zu veröffentlichen, kann ich mir nicht erklären.
Auch dieses ist ein Album mit gutem Potential, jedenfalls für mich.
So schlummern viele kleine musikalische Rohdiamanten aus dem Umfeld von Jon in den Schubladen.
die anderen Musiker, wie Peter Machajdik tun mir leid.
Zu befürchten ist der Totalausverkauf, wenn sich Jon vom Musikmachen zurückzieht, schade.

Michael Lewis hat die Geschichte des Songs erläutert, das Original-Demo datiert von 2007 und wurde mehrfach in Teilen neu aufgenommen und abgemischt. Jon Andersons Beiträge stammen aus 2007 und 2013, Pontys aus 2012 und Oliver Wakemans aus 2014.
Im Original (Juni 2021):
This was the song that led to the formation of the Inventioning Band and the Anderson-Ponty Band. So here you go, some of the history for you as follows... The initial demo of this song was recorded back in October of 2007, Jon's contribution to the song happened in one day after the initial demo was sent to him. But we really didn't get around to working on this until later. At the time we were just starting to kick around ideas and then Jon got sick in 2008. I finally started developing the song in 2011 and had Brian Fullen cut drum tracks. Then in 2012 we got serious about it. I cut additional parts -- a bass part, acoustic and electric guitar parts and keyboard parts (many of which were engineered by Bridgette Lewis) and Bridgette Lewis sang a lead vocal that was meant as a placeholder until Jon got to singing the song. Jon also sent over vocal tracks at that time and ended up sending over a 2nd set of tracks in 2013. We added an extensive set of background vocals in 2012 which we later recut this year (probably the 3rd time we had recorded them). John Billings (Donna Summer/The Monkees) originally recut the bass track but that track was lost in a file crash and he was unable to redo it due to personal circumstances. John Patitucci was considered for the part but my budget couldn't accommodate him. We then had Adam Nitti recut the bass parts in 2015 after INV was separated from APB. Jean Luc Ponty was added to the project in 2012 with a first set of tracks recorded in July and a 2nd set in October of that same year. Oliver Wakeman agreed to add some additional keyboard parts which he completed in Nov. of 2014. There was an original version of the song mixed in 2014 to pitch to labels for Inventioning that included Some People, Walking Talking (which we released in 2014) and a rendition of the song "One" that was later redone and named "One In The Rhythm of Hope." The pitch was successful and there was a label offer as a result. I'm not sure if Jamie Glaser was the one to redo One or if it was Jamie Dunlap who was also dismissed from the Anderson-Ponty band. I had also done a rendition of Infinity that later became Infinite Mirage, again redone by one of the Jamies (probably Jamie Dunlap). The mix of Some People was pulled up and worked on along with additional editing and fixes, off and on over the last 5 years. It was a massive mix and the instruments and vocals had to be mixed separately because at 96K my computer was maxing out at about 65 tracks and this was probably pushing 120. Let just say there was a long road that led to completion of this song and I'll be telling more of the stories in a video Vlog at some point. Just to clarify, the Inventioning Band's only permanent members are Bridgette Lewis and Michael Lewis as highlighted by the Onward music video we did in 2015/2016. All others are guests to the project and have no official affiliation except whatever affiliation they would like to claim to the band. The players are Brian Fullen Drums, Adam Nitti Bass, Oliver Wakeman Keyboards, Jean Luc Ponty and Jon Anderson. Brian, Adam and Bridgette (background vocals) are also on Walking Talking, released in 2014 and Onward, released in 2016 which did not include Jon. Brian Fullen played all the original demos I produced for Jon's projects and Bridgette sang all the original demos as well, dating back to 2008 (possibly 2007). Oliver was the only real newcomer in 2014/2015 and this is the only song he has played on so far and this is the only recording he has played on with Jon Anderson. This is the only song that features Jean Luc Ponty, again, as a guest. I thought they had thrown me overboard when we parted ways in 2014. I stood there with my eyes closed, waiting for the splash... but then it occurred to me that they had jumped ship and left me with the ship! So I just kept on sailing! In answer to the 2nd question... I hope this is not like adulting. All of us who've tried that found out it wasn't what it was cracked up to be. Just call us when it's time for dinner. ML

Jon ist aktuell im Studio und nimmt „1000 Hands“ Chapter Two auf. Wir können also in 2022 mit einem neuen Studo-Album rechnen.
