“From Silence to Somewhere”, which is set for release on the 20th October, is comprised of four epic tracks that explore the idea of metamorphosis and alchemy. WOBBLER’s trademark sound, which makes use of copious amounts of Mellotron, Moog, Hammond, Chamberlin and other classical analogue keyboards, and of course the renowned Rickenbacker Bass, is very much in evidence.
It is an album with a darker, more introspective edge than WOBBLER’s previous releases, but at the same time “From Silence to Somewhere” feels like a natural progression. Flamenco and Italian Renaissance music can be heard weaving their way subtly through the melancholy harmonies that are combined with powerful crescendos and high-energy, spinet-driven passages, whilst the guitar riffs range from the poignant to the edgy.

Ich kenne vom neuen Album von Dave Matthews bereits drei Songs, die er letztes Jahr live in Europa gespielt hat und die mich jetzt nicht gerade vom Stuhl gerissen haben ("Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)", "Virginia In The Rain", "Black and Blue Bird") aber ich freue mich trotzdem.
Auf das (Doppel-) Album (bzw. die 4LP) von Washington bin ich sehr gespannt. "The Epic" war wirklich episch und live hat er mich letztes Jahr auch begeistert. Ob er es wieder schaft, so viel gutes neues Material zu liefern?

New album “Beginn” is a deft fusion of the talents of Claudia Brücken – famously the lead vocalist of revered German avant-pop 80s group Propaganda – and Jerome Froese – who, as son of electronic music pioneer and Tangerine Dream founder Edgar Froese, was himself a driving force and member of Tangerine Dream during one of their most successful and creative phases. Tangerine Dream, the German band widely credited as being the founding fathers of the whole ‘ambient’ genre.
Brücken’s unmistakable voice covers an astounding bandwidth from ethereally fragile to experienced diva. Her unique vocals blend into fascinating electronic song structures that mix Froese’s trademark Guitartronica with synth-led gems that range from the loungecore to the experimental. Some tracks resonate as if an electronic re-imagining of the intricacies of the celebrated shoe-gaze sound of the Cocteau Twins. Other tracks pay equal homage to the fascinating electro-cool of the early 80s New Wave; whereas throughout, the underpinning of dextrous breakbeat attacks are, also, often in evidence.
‘Beginn’ is a hybrid maelstrom of electronic sounds and sonic dreamscapes. It demonstrates the influence of both Froese’s and Brücken’s acclaimed output to date: Froese’s solo work and the Tangerine Dream albums he partook in and Brücken’s long and varied career as an icon of electronic pop in Propaganda, Act, OneTwo and as a distinguished solo artist. Suzanne Freytag, Brücken’s co-vocalist in Propaganda, also collaborates on the song ‘Sweet Sense [of] Liberation’, the album’s lead single.

I know exactly what you mean. Close to the Edge is the better album, but yeah, Fragile is a mind-blower. DM: I should try Close to the Edge, right? I just keep coming back to Fragile. A friend of mine was playing me a few tracks from the new N.E.R.D album, and it was great. Then I said, “Let me play you this.” I played him Fragile and after he goes, “Fuck man. You win.”

Das Instrumentalalbum "The Bucket List" von Phil Keaggy, Tony Levin & Jerry Marotta ist gerade erschienen. Leider ist der CD-Versand so teuer wie das Album selbst und bei den üblichen Anbietern ist die physische Version (noch) nicht gelistet. Man kann aber alle Titel kostenlos bei Bandcamp streamen. Mit fehlt manchmal ein wenig die Spannung, aber das ist trotzdem launige Hochqualitätsmusik. Mein Anspieltipp: Caravan
